Electrical Inspection Required Before Your Electricity Can Be Reconnected

Electrical Inspection Required Before Your Electricity Can Be Reconnected 04Oct 2017

Dear Customers,
Considering the widespread damages caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria to properties in
the Turks and Caicos Islands, FortisTCI Limited (FortisTCI) along with the Energy and Utilities
Commissioner and the Director Planning have given special consideration and agreed that in the
interest of safety for all customers, contractors, linesman and servicemen, all properties that have
damages must be inspected by the Government Planning Department before electricity can be
reconnected.

As such, FortisTCI will not able to connect the following services to the grid:
1. Services with severe roof damages, including but not limited to exposed rafters, plywood,
ceilings, etc.
2. Damaged service entrance/weather head or obvious damages to the electrical wiring
3. Damaged meter cans
4. Where there is lack of access to the property
5. Where there is lack of access to the service line
Where properties have been damaged, customers should first undertake the necessary repairs,
and then get an inspection done by the Government Planning Department. Thereafter, customers
must provide FortisTCI with written approval from the Planning Department stating that service
can be connected.
Sincerely,
FortisTCI
Office of the Energy and Utilities Commissioner
Office of the Director of Planning
