FortisTCI Announces Measures to Support Customers in Light of Coronavirus Pandemic Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Friday, March 27, 2020) - FortisTCI has announced that the company will be implementing measures to assist customers in alleviating hardships that may be experienced as a result of the current coronavirus pandemic. Effective immediately, the company will: • Delay the 6.8% rate increase for 90 days • Suspend disconnections for 30 days • Suspend late fee charges for 60 days • Assist those most impacted with extended payment plans, on a case-by-case basis • Assist qualifying customers referred by the Department of Social Development In announcing these new measures, FortisTCI President & CEO Eddinton Powell said, "These initiatives will assist our customers in these unprecedented and uncertain times. Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, March 11, 2020) - FortisTCI has extended a formal partnership with the Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG) for the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera equipment on utility poles in Grand Turk, signing the joint agreement on Wednesday, March 4.

FortisTCI and the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA) announced this week, a three-year partnership to further develop youth football across the country. This partnership also facilities a restructuring that will see the introduction of an Elite Youth Football League featuring six Under-14 boys' teams comprising three teams in Provo and one team each in Grand Turk, North Caicos, and South Caicos. Games will be played on Saturdays in Provo between April 25 and May 30, 2020.

The Turks and Caicos National Trust is the recipient of this year's framed FortisTCI calendar cover. The presentation was made on Tuesday, January 28, at Cheshire Hall Planation in Providenciales. The 2020 calendar theme is "The Colors of the Turks and Caicos Islands" and features the TCI National Costume, national heritage sites, national symbols and the beautiful variety the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) has to offer.

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, January 8, 2020) - Three FortisTCI departments, three partnering contractors, and eight individuals were recognized at the company's recent semi-annual Green Ribbon Safety Awards. The ceremony was held on Friday, December 13, at the company's headquarters in Providenciales to honor those who demonstrate their commitment to health and safety in the workplace.

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, December 4, 2019) - The Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) held their 118th board meeting in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) on Monday, December 2. This was the last convening of the Board for 2019 and the first-ever board meeting held in TCI in the 30-year history of CARILEC. Nine Directors represented utilities and attended from St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Vincent, Nevis, St. Eustatius, Antigua, St. Kitts, and the Bahamas, and two Directors representing the associate members were from the US Virgin Islands and Florida, USA. FortisTCI President and CEO Eddinton Powell currently serves as Chairman of the Board. The Executive Director of CARILEC Dr. Cletus Bertin and members of the secretariat also attended.

A new partnership will advance a regulatory framework, utility-scale energy storage, electric vehicle integration, and the promotion of energy efficiency. Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, October 30, 2019) - On Wednesday, October 23, following Cabinet's approval, the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands, FortisTCI - the islands' utility provider, and the Clinton Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to begin implementing initiatives supported by the country's Resilient National Energy Transition Strategy (R-NETS). This strategy was developed by the Turks and Caicos Islands Government, FortisTCI, and Rocky Mountain Institute in 2018 and provides a roadmap for the country's energy future over 22 years, from 2019 to 2040.

Through their studies, the four gained skills in human resources, information technology, legal and regulatory, and engineering. Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, September 25, 2019) - FortisTCI Resource Planning and Utility Analytics Officer TeAnn Thomas was one of several presenters at this year's CARILEC Renewable Energy and Smart Grid Conference and Tradeshow in Miami Florida from September 15 to 19. The conference was held under the theme "Rethinking Resilience in an Era of Disruption," and brought together utility professionals, regulators and government representatives from across North America and the Caribbean region.

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, August 28, 2019) - An additional half-megawatt (MW) of photovoltaic (PV) energy generation is connected to the FortisTCI electricity grid in Providenciales following the commissioning of three rooftop installations earlier this month. All three PV systems were installed in conjunction with commercial customers Caicos Depot, Carlisle Supplies, and Grace Bay Car Rental and are a part of the company's Utility Owned Renewable Energy Program (UORE). Investment costs for the three installations totalled approximately $1.4 million.
