Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, August 28, 2019) - An additional half-megawatt (MW) of photovoltaic (PV) energy generation is connected to the FortisTCI electricity grid in Providenciales following the commissioning of three rooftop installations earlier this month. All three PV systems were installed in conjunction with commercial customers Caicos Depot, Carlisle Supplies, and Grace Bay Car Rental and are a part of the company's Utility Owned Renewable Energy Program (UORE). Investment costs for the three installations totalled approximately $1.4 million.

The training seminars ensure that contractors working with FortisTCI understand and comply with the company's Environmental Health and Safety Management Systems (EHSMS).

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, June 19, 2019) - FortisTCI President & CEO Eddinton Powell has been elected Chairman of the Caribbean Electric Utilities Services Corporation (CARILEC) Board of Directors. The election took place at the 31st Annual General Meeting held in Saint Lucia on May 23rd. Also elected to serve was a new Board comprising four new directors, two continuing, six re-elected and two Associate Member representatives. Mr. Powell and the new Board will serve from 2019 to 2022.

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Friday, June 7, 2019) - On Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5, a technical fault at the FortisTCI power plant on Leeward Highway resulted in two island-wide outages and a prolonged interruption in service to some Providenciales customers.

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, May 8, 2019) - Effective April 29, FortisTCI is ISO 14001:2015 and 45001:2018 certified. The accreditations confirm that the company's Occupational Health and Safety, and Environmental Management Systems are aligned to international best practice throughout all its operations within the Turks and Caicos Islands. The company is one of the few electricity providers in the region to have achieved both certifications.

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, April 24, 2019) - On Tuesday, April 23, FortisTCI experienced outages that affected customers in several areas in Providenciales. At approximately 7:09 p.m., service was interrupted to customers in the areas of Leeward and Leeward Palms. This was followed by an interruption in service to customers in the areas of Chalk Sound, parts of Five Cays and South Dock at approximately 7:38 p.m.
