Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands (Tuesday, April 20th) - At 8:30 a.m. Tuesday 20th April, 2010 the islands of Providenciales and North Caicos experienced an unscheduled power interruption due to an excavator working within the PPC Ltd Power Plant compound. The equipment accidentally dug into an electrical conduit which result in a damaged main distribution service cable which feeds the power supply to North Caicos, Leeward, Leeward Palms along with Grace Bay, and Lower Bight areas.
PPC's technical crew began work immediately to isolate the problem so that power could be restored to the islands affected as quickly as possible. Power was restored to the majority of the affected areas within half an hour but the remaining areas were restored within hour and thirty minutes.
