Providenciales Community Wins Big at FortisTCI 4th Annual Spring Walk & Run 03Apr 2012

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Tuesday April 3, 2012) - A large number of people turned out this past Saturday March 31st to participate in the 4th Annual Spring Fun Walk & Run hosted by FortisTCI. The event is done each year with the intent of bringing together employees, their families and friends, corporate partners and various community members to promote healthy lifestyles amongst each other.

Winners were congratulated on a job well done as Schwinn bicycles were awarded to first place runners Leonardo Sarita for the men, Lynn Robinson for the women, and Nore Verdieu for the FortisTCI team. Coltrane Nickson was the first child to complete the route taking home a gift certificate to the Unicorn Bookstore, and the group prize for having the most number of participants went to Team Beaches whose 40 member team was presented with FortisTCI gift bags and movie tickets. Said to have been the most anticipated part of the morning was the drawing of the winning raffle ticket for a Nintendo game system and Wii Fit won by Georgetta Smith who was ecstatic about her take home.

"We hope to continue encouraging and educating our staff and the community about the benefits and added value of being healthy," said Shernelle Capron, FortisTCI Social Club President and event coordinator. "This FortisTCI annual walk and run sends a number of messages, not only about the importance of exercise, but also about healthy eating habits, social development, and the potential rewards from working hard to accomplish your goals." FortisTCI team members also made a presentation to the Turks and Caicos Red Cross noting that a contribution would be made at a later date to the charitable organization based on employee participation numbers at the event.
