Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands (September 9th, 2009) - The month of August was Safety Awareness Month at PPC Ltd and the company's work-force of over 100 staff members benefited from a series of educational initiatives promoting health and safety in the work place.
Throughout the entire month, 'safety, safety, safety' was the key message communicated to staff across all of the departments, providing employees with invaluable information on accident prevention in the workplace and at home. Most importantly, almost all staff members based in Providenciales, North Caicos and Middle Caicos attended the Turks & Caicos Red Cross Basic First-Aid course combined with CPR and the Automated External Defibrillator (A.E.D.) training.
The aim of the course was to educate and empower individuals with the basic knowledge of first-aid response. The eleven day course was conducted by instructors from the Turks & Caicos Red Cross who skillfully demonstrated a wide range of live-saving First-Aid techniques. PPC's staff learnt the safe method of resuscitating a victim who is not breathing or choking, how to properly bandage a wound or bone fracture and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (A.E.D.).
Eustace Musgrove, Environmental & Safety Specialist at PPC said "The first-aid training was an extremely valuable step to ensuring that all of our staff are fully equipped should a crisis situation arise. The company prides itself on employee education and training and is dedicated to ensuring the safety of its staff and community. We would like to thank the instructors from the Red Cross for a job well done. This training will prove to be very beneficial to all of us for years to come."
