Provo Power Company (PPC) Ltd Announces New Scholarship Program 09Apr 2008

Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands, April 9, 2008 - Today, PPC Ltd announces its new groundbreaking Fortis/PPC Engineering Scholarship Program for qualified Belongers and staff. Three scholarships will be offered for the academic year 2008/2009; one four-year Engineering Degree (which is open to Belongers within and outside the company), and two three-year Engineering Technologists available to employees only. The winning recipients (selected by a scholarship committee) will receive paid tuition and housing to attend any accredited university in the United States, Canada or the Caribbean. Mr. Eddinton Powell, CEO stated "This scholarship program is part of PPC's effort to contribute to human capital development in the Turks & Caicos Islands; to train engineers and specifically to increase the number of Belonger technical and engineering staff in the company." Below is a list of requirements to qualify for selection.

  1. Applicants must have obtained excellent grades (2 / B or higher) in O' Level or A' Level examinations. (A notarized copy or originals of grades must be attached to the application or provided.)
  2. Applicants must provide a short essay (1,000 words maximum) on how they would be an asset to the company upon completion of the degree and return to the Turks and Caicos Islands.
  3. Applicants must provide a notarized copy of the acceptance letter from the university of choice.
  4. Finalist will be interviewed and one recipient will be selected for each scholarship.

PPC can provide guidance in helping potential candidates in selecting the universities and engineering programs. The emphasis is on Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
The recipient will be bonded to the company for four years upon completion of the program. The recipient will also be expected to work with the company during vacation.
