Provo Power Company (PPC) Ltd. Energizes Underground Power Feed

Provo Power Company (PPC) Ltd. Energizes Underground Power Feed 12Jun 2008

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, June 12, 2008 - This month, PPC Ltd. energized a new distribution feeder from its Providenciales Power Plant to the Beaches Resort on the Lower Bight Road. The feeder is an underground cable along Leeward Highway to Beaches Turn and then overhead to Beaches Resort.
This new feeder will enable PPC to reliably provide service to the area as well as provide capacity to support the future load of Beaches Resort. It also improves the aesthetics at the main entrance and eliminates any dangers of trees growing into power lines. The feeder also frees up the original aerial line along Leeward Highway, to improve reliability in consort with the doubling of capacity at the Grace Bay substation.
Brian Walsh, VP of Operations stated that this project was undertaken to accommodate the major expansion at Beaches Resort and is one of many projects planned for the next 5 years to strengthen the electrical system, improve reliability of service and accommodate the significant development in the Turks & Caicos Islands, particularly on Providenciales.  PPC's planned capital expenditure for next five years is estimated at $122M with $38M to be spent in 2008.
