FortisTCI to Host Turks and Caicos Energy Forum on October 21

FortisTCI to Host Turks and Caicos Energy Forum on October 21 01Oct 2021

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Friday, October 1, 2021)FortisTCI announces the first-ever Turks and Caicos Energy Forum, a conference dedicated to addressing the transformation of the energy sector. Highlighting the theme, ‘The Future of Energy’ in the Turks and Caicos Islands, the event will bring together a wide cross-section of local stakeholders, including government, businesses and FortisTCI customers. Turks and Caicos Energy Forum takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, at The Shore Club. This will be a limited in-person event and live-streamed for public viewing.

At the start of the conference, the Deputy Governor Anya Williams will bring opening remarks. FortisTCI President and CEO Ruth Forbes will present an overview of the current and emerging energy landscape. Turks and Caicos Islands Premier Honorable Washington Misick will deliver an address on energy, and President of the Caribbean Development Bank Dr. Gene Leon will bring the keynote presentation on “Advancing Economic Development in the Caribbean: The Role of Sustainable Energy.”

Fortis Inc. President and CEO Dave Hutchens will highlight the Fortis Group’s sustainability plans and its focus on clean energy. LUCELEC Managing Director Trevor Louisy will share his perspective on St. Lucia’s energy transition and regulatory reform experience. Conference participants will also learn about energy transition experiences from Cayman Islands, Barbados and Bermuda during a panel discussion on ‘The Future of Energy: What does it look like and how do we get there?’ The conference will close with an in-depth discussion on the TCI Resilient National Energy Transition Strategy.
