Provo Power Company's Parent Company Supports Local Youth

Provo Power Company's Parent Company Supports Local Youth 19Mar 2009

Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands (Thursday, March 19, 2009) - Fortis Inc, the parent company for Provo Power Company (PPC) Ltd, has donated $2,000 to the Edward C. Gartland Youth Centre of Providenciales, a community project that empowers teenagers to broaden their awareness and develop life skills.

PPC Ltd employees selected the Youth Centre because of the important work that the organization is doing to motivate and improve the lives of the local teenagers. The Youth Centre is designed to engage children in programs and activities to help them thrive and prosper. Some of the programs have included beach clean-ups, art and dance classes, poetry reading and writing workshops and peer education training.

Meghan O'Reilly, Director of the Edward E. Gartland Youth Center was thrilled to receive the check. "Since we opened the centre it's been our aim to serve our young people - the future of the Turks & Caicos Islands. The project has been a tremendous success and it is generous donations such as this that allows us to continue our work.  We are extremely grateful and appreciative to PPC, as are the children, about the support and kind donation we have received from them".

PPC and Fortis Inc. opted to make a donation to a worthy cause instead of investing in the tradition of exchanging Christmas cards in 2008. A donation was made to a charity based in each of the countries where Fortis operates.
