Dear Valued Customer,
Fuel factor rates moved slightly upward after a constant decline over recent months. For April, customers saw increases of up to 6% across some service territories.
FortisTCI follows established practices and a set billing cycle, with power bills issued at the end of each month. Fuel factor rates are submitted in advance to the TCI Government Energy and Utilities Department for authentication. Once confirmation is received, bills are released.
Here’s what you will notice on April's power bill:
- Providenciales, North Caicos and Middle Caicos: A 3% increase to $0.1550 per kilowatt hour (kWh).
-
Grand Turk and Salt Cay: A 2% increase to $0.1510 per kWh.
-
South Caicos: A 6% increase to $0.1758 per kWh.
In early April, the TCI Government announced that a tax reduction of $0.64 per gallon on fuel imports will be made permanent, effective April 1, 2025. This tax reduction has been in effect since 2022 and does not have any new impact on the current cost of fuel. The announcement essentially shifts the pre-existing fuel tax reduction measure from temporary to permanent status.
The fuel factor rate increases and decreases with global fuel prices. We remain committed to keeping you informed on changes.
